This organ, originally located in the Evangelical
Lutheran Church of Christ in Rosedale, NY, was supposed to
be installed here by another organ firm. That same firm
was also putting in an organ in that church. Both
installations were botched right from the start, (pictures
will be available soon). They featured exposed and live
electrical lines, heavy chests leaning on fragile pipes,
horrendous wiring - things you do not like to see in organs
and very dangerous as well. When we see things like
this, we feel bad for the church and we wonder, "how did
this company get in here...how could this firm have any
references?" This is why a comprehensive reference
list and due diligence are so important when selecting an
organ firm.
Our firm has a wonderful reputation and an impressive
reference list, and we were recommended by the Rosedale church
to complete St Paul's installation of the M.P. Moller
pipe organ. Many parts of the organ were missing or
broken, so we needed to fabricate new parts. The other
firm had the blower wired incorrectly,
and it could quite possibly have been burnt out. New chest
frames were constructed as well as some rackboards and other
parts. Many pipes needed attention, and the missing
pipes were replaced.
We constructed a new chamber with future expansion in
mind. With the Bourdon installed outside the chamber,
there is ample room to add ranks for an exposed Great and the
existing ranks in the chamber could be converted into a Swell
division. Re-wiring is taking place now, and we are
looking forward to finishing this organ in the near
future. Members of the church have been watching as the
work progresses, some crying tears of joy that it is actually
happening!
Stay tuned for updates.
